Three gluten-free pizzas from Seattle restaurants

Pizza is a notoriously glutenous food, and years ago it could be difficult to find a gluten-free pizza that met expectations for a chewy, flavorful crust. Over time Seattle's gluten-free pizza scene has grown and now many restaurants offer gluten-free pizza options that are surprisingly good. We've put together a list of our favorite Seattle pizzerias serving pizza without gluten.

  1. Razzi's Pizzeria The folks at Razzi's Pizzeria are serious about their gluten-free pizza menu, with a dedicated menu of more than 30 pizza types, from the Puttanesca to the "Razzi's Special" covered in meats, mushrooms, and olives. The pizzeria has two locations, one in Greenwood and the other in Downtown Seattle. Both locations are open daily for dine-in or takeout, with free parking available. In addition to the pizzas, Razzi's gluten-free menu lists an unexpected number of appetizers, soups, pastas, entrees, desserts, and other foods all served gluten-free.

  2. Veraci Pizza Founders Marshall Jett and Errin Byrd started Vera in 2004 after years of experimentation with focaccia and pizza at home. They began by selling at the Ballard Farmer's Market, and due to popularity, eventually opened the brick and mortar locations currently operating in Ballard and Edgewood. Veraci's gluten-free pizza dough is delicious, and all pizzas on the menu are available with this gluten-free dough upon request, from the classic pepperoni to the 'Hot Coppa' with spicy coppa salami, caramelized onions, and Beecher’s Flagship cheese on a garlic sauce.

  3. Watershed Pub and Kitchen Nestled in the recently developed Northgate Mall next to the transit center and a public park, we didn't expect to find gluten-free pizza at Watershed Pub and Kitchen. The crust was surprisingly good with all that you want in a pizza crust: tender, chewy, and flaky.

  4. Honorable Mention: Feel Good Foods While you won't find this pizza on the menu at a restaurant, this bake-at-home pizza deserves a spot on this list for its savory, flaky crust that rivals any traditional pizza crust.Feel Good Foods' pizzas are available in four cheese, truffle mushroom, or classic Margherita toppings options. They can be found at many local grocers, including PCC Community Markets, Metropolitan Market, and Whole Foods Market.
