The family behind Island Soul in Columbia City shares their beloved, comforting, Caribbean-inspired soul food with a new restaurant in Kirkland this month.
Back in 2007 Theo and Gaelyn Martin opened Island Soul in Seattle's Columbia City neighborhood. The restaurant has since become a cornerstone of the community, serving comforting Caribbean-inspired soul food.
This month the family behind Island Soul will open Arleana's Restaurant in Kirkland, honoring Theo's late mother Lula Arleana Martin. "Mama Martin" (as she was known in her community) believed that food "should fill the soul, not just your belly," and the new restaurant intends to do just that with comforting menu items such as Caribbean Curry and Bouillabaisse. Arleana's opens tomorrow, April 8th, and you can make a reservation now to be among the first to try this exciting new restaurant.
